Video Story Draft

I created this video to represent my topic because it relates directly to health and fitness. My video is a demonstrative video of two of my friends showing simple at-home workouts. For this draft, I plan for my complete final submission to have an in-depth narrative on what exactly is going on in the video and how they helped me at home for my own fitness journey. My draft post is two videos combined, the first is of my friend demonstrating different kinds of push-ups, and then second video that I transitioned after that is my other friend demonstrating multiple sit ups. Initially, I added a title at the beginning of a black screen to start, and then as the first video started, i added text description for 10 seconds explaining what is going on, who is in the video, and who it was edited by. Once that ends, the audio I added of background music begins to play and Vanessa begins to demonstrate the workout. After the first video ends, I added a transition so that the video looks smoother and put together, with the intentions that it’s not a choppy video and looks finalized. After the transition, my other friend begins, and I start the similar introduction process of what’s going on with her and what she will be demonstrating, but the audio is different because what she is doing is a change of pace. For the final version, I am thinking of adding two more short clips to the beginning and end of the video of some type of other scenery and workout tips either narrated or demonstrated by me. I also plan to add in audio of myself with the background audio music behind it, but lightly so that it does not overpower what I’m trying to say.

  1. Hi Isabelle
To start I think you have a really good first draft! I like that it’s very straightforward and it was easy for me to understand the point you were trying to get across for your project. After reading your description, I agree that you should add background audio of you explaining each workout that your friends are doing along with the music that’s already playing. The only critique I have is to possibly add an ending title to your premiere story to finish your video off strong and make it clear that it’s over. Other than that, your video draft is starting off strong!

  2. Your video is good! It shows your professional identity as you incorporated a video of people working out and doing physical activity. Two critical suggestions for improvement that I would say would be to change your location of the physical activity. I would recommend this improvement because it would show more of the appropriate setting for physical activity. It would emphasize more of the professional identity of working out. The other critical suggestion for improvement is to add more music choices. I would do this to add more intensity to the video idea. One specific area that is strong already is the content of the workout and the cutting of the video. I think this is already strong because the workouts that you have them doing is good and shows your professional identity. I also think that the cutting of the video looks good and makes it look put together and professional. Good job!

  3. Hey there Isabelle! Nice job on your draft, you did a great job so far! I love the concept for your videos, as they are very practical. I actually want to try implementing some of the moves your friend demonstrated into my own workout routine as they are very simple but look effective! I do have a few constructive criticisms that I hope will elevate your video to the next level! I really like the idea of having your two different friends demonstrate the different moves, but it just seems very choppy. I would suggest adding more transitions overall, along with the audio, to make it all flow smoother. I also would suggest cutting down the sections of you recording your friends doing the moves. Adding more cuts will make it seem more professional, and will cut out unnecessary things, such as them bending down to get on the ground to perform the move. Overall you have a great start on your project, and I cannot wait to see the final product!
