Draft Logo Project

I decided to create a graphic that looks like a health advertisement logo because my main topic is about lifestyle changes and improving your diet, which is why I put “lifestyle changes” in the middle to emphasize my topic. What inspired me to make this logo was the health brand that I used to follow at home that includes tips to improve your habits and easy to make vegan meals and how to keep it up. Some research I did to verify this logo was looking into the brand and their logo meaning and what it means to them, since their intention or how the logo is portrayed can be viewed differently by the consumer if they are not careful. For that reason, I decided to add leaves to my logo because they are commonly viewed as natural and I associate them with health and a vegan lifestyle. To create this draft, I used the tools from the adobe illustrator tutorials since the entire logo is shape based besides the inserted text-boxes. I used the selection tool to draw the rectangles inverted edges so that it matches the rectangle width. Since this is a draft, I haven’t added much color yet but I plan to add color with the gradient process to all flat colors. I also used the direct selection tool to adjust the outside corners of the banner to give it the appearance of being more natural. I also bolded the text in the outside of the banners and made the center text cursive to give it depth. A problem I ran into while creating this draft was that I had trouble finding the reset or erase tool, which isn’t much of a huge issue but was frustrating at first since it is all line based it took me a few times to get it correct and every time I would have to restart.

Graphic Design Project Final

I created my graphic design in resemblance of a magazine because this platform best portrays my topic and what I want to get across to my intended audience. My chosen topic is my fitness journey, which includes going vegan and changing my lifestyle habits. I wanted to create a design that resembled what I used to start my journey and what intrigued me to look into this more. All of the factors during this journey were crucial to my success in up keeping my lifestyle which is why I chose these 3 pictures to represent my topic of going vegan and creating the start of my fitness journey. Three main factors in this were the meals I created, the upkeep of going to the gym and keeping myself busy, and the motivation I gave myself to keep going since this process is not a short one. During the initial draft, I aimed for the pop-art look for my photographs to highlight the most important factor of the graphic. I embedded 3 photographs above my mesh background (link below) and then included adobe draw boxes and layered the photos on top with a bright, contrasting color to emphasize the pictures. On top of the photos I includes brief wording to explain what the significance of each photograph was. After getting feedback, I received helpful tips to put together the entire project by adding more quotes and wording to define each meaning of the photos and to increase the quality of the pictures. I decided to double layer my titles of each photograph and bring in more intriguing wording into the magazine in hopes to bring the audience in more. I changed the contrast of the background to help blend everything in easier so that it doesn’t look thrown onto the background, after doing this I decided to double layer the text to give it a shadowed look and arc the words above a photograph and sentence that I want emphasized onto the page. I also agreed from my recent feedback that it was important to add another text box that fills the graphic since magazines most often have many short sayings and texts giving examples of the context of the articles. After completing all steps, I went into the layers into the “Half and Half Cookie button” and decreased the hue and saturation to dim the red contrast with the background to help the overall look of the page and then created a white layer underneath the red to emphasize the picture and differentiate between the black and white and just a red square.

Draft Graphic Post

I created this graphic design to represent the importance of my health and fitness journey and a magazine is a good portrayal of this type of lifestyle. For me, all of the factors during this journey were crucial to my success in up keeping my lifestyle which is why I chose these 3 pictures to represent my topic of going vegan and creating the start of my fitness journey. Three main factors in this were the meals I created, the upkeep of going to the gym and keeping myself busy, and the motivation I gave myself to keep going since this process is not a short one. I chose to make it a magazine because this is the most common form of inspiration, in my opinion, for journeys and food recipes. To create this Magazine draft, I used a mesh background from a site (link below) and then embedded my 3 photographs with a red background to contrast them from the background to give it the look of a magazine. This style of draft inspired me because when I was first starting my vegan journey and going to the gym, I looked mainly for inspiration and magazines or blogs that caught my eye from people who had previously done the same thing to get myself on the right track. Since the three elements in my topic are related but not very similar, it seemed best to create three various sections on the post to clarify what they are and why they are important. The only challenge I had while creating this in the software, was that I was having a difficult time finding a way to make the borders of these photos project from the background more and make them look like they are a part of the page, my plan to fix this is to blend it in to the first layer and then use the grunge texture to give it the paper look.

Vegan Journey

https://www.vegansociety.com/go-vegan/why-go-vegan https://www.ilovevegan.com https://www.organicfacts.net/being-vegan.html

The topic that I have chosen to share my experiences with is about my health and fitness journey, and personal experience of becoming vegan and the perspective of Veganism and why I believe it was one of the most beneficial but difficult life changes for me. All my life I struggled with food and my body’s reaction to food, I was constantly scared to eat because I never knew how I would feel after I ate; which in turn boosted my interest in health and fitness in hopes that it would compensate for how unwell food alone made me feel. During my senior year of high school, I decided to become vegetarian due to personal opinions on the meat industry and how it made me feel. Going vegetarian “cold turkey” was pretty simple and I was able to make this lifestyle change immediately with no complications. After around half a year of being completely vegetarian, I did my research and had read about how people who were vegan had a lot less complications with food and swore it was the sole reason for how great their body feels. Along with health, fitness, and becoming vegetarian, I felt great and decided to becoming vegan in hopes it would be as easy as my last lifestyle change. Becoming vegan was a difficult process at first because your body does not get nearly as much nutrition as needed unless you have the correct tools and proteins to keep yourself functioning. This information came with trial and error, but I have now been vegan for years and love the way I feel. Throughout these years, I have collected many before and after pictures of my fitness process that I plan to share, I also have footage of what originally made me become vegetarian in high school, and I plan to continue making time lapses of me creating my meals and how I base them around being vegan. I also plan to include audio video of other friends I have that are vegan and their perspective on it and how they think it has impacted their life. Two ideas I have for the 4 projects this semester are to create a poster that shows the impacts of being Vegan and listing different ways to get protein while still being vegan in a food chart pyramid. I also have the idea to get audio footage of multiple people I know, or know of that are also vegan and have them talk about how this lifestyle has impacted them. They could also give advice for anyone that is interested in making a massive change like this, and how to go about it the correct and healthy way. Above I have attached three links for my inspiration file that I believe have helped me through my health journey and more tips that will help me and others to continue to learn about this lifestyle. The link “Vegan Society” is a basic website that gives input on why people should go vegan, “I love vegan” gives benefits of Veganism and multiple recipes and tips for anyone at any point in the process, and “Organic Facts” is an inspirational type website that has everything you need to know about this lifestyle. I highly encourage anyone, even if not interested in going vegan as a whole, to do more research on the whole topic and learn about the benefits this lifestyle can give you!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
